Read Alone, Talk Together
Reading in Italian is a personal journey, but you don't have to do it alone. A small online community of readers meeting monthly to talk books, language, and culture.

Italian Book Club for Solo Readers
CURRENTLY READING
We're currently working through Elena Ferrante's L'Amica Geniale saga together. Having just finished Storia di chi fugge e di chi resta (Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay) — book three in the series — we're now moving on to Storia della bambina perduta (The Story of the Lost Child), the fourth and final instalment. We read at a steady pace of around 20 chapters a month, so this last book will take us a few months to complete.
New to the club? Since you're joining the story partway through, you'll need to have read the first three books or watched the TV series beforehand to follow along comfortably. Once we finish the saga, we'll move on to a new book; a great point to join if you'd rather start from the beginning.
“I love the Solo Readers Book Club. Perfect level of challenge, great monthly discussions, and a wonderful way to keep up with spoken Italian.”

The group meets on the first Monday of the month from 5:30pm to 7:00pm BST
Monthly membership costs £32 (you can unsubscribe at any time)

What is the difference between a club and a course?
Clubs are more relaxed and discussion-based, focusing on conversation and culture. Courses are more structured and focused on learning outcomes.
Do I need to speak Italian fluently to join a club?
You'll need at least an upper intermediate level of Italian (B2), since discussions and reading are entirely in Italian. If you're not quite there yet, one of our courses might be a better starting point.
How often does the club meet?
The group meets once a month, on the first Monday, for a 90-minute discussion.
What happens in a typical session?
You'll join a guided discussion about that month's reading, sharing your interpretations and reflections in Italian with fellow readers and a native-speaking coach.
Can I join partway through a book?
Since we read as a group in real time, new members should be caught up with what we've read so far. Check the Currently Reading section above for what's needed to join right now.
What platform do you use to stay connected?
We use a dedicated WhatsApp group to share updates, ask questions, and stay in touch between sessions.
Is the book club included in course fees?
No, the book club is separate and can be joined independently or alongside a course.
